Niven Conservation House Review 1
If you fancy living in conserved terrace colonial style 2-storey Heritage Shophouse of Singapore, the shophouses at Niven is for you.
Niven Conservation House is a lovely row of terrace conserved shophouses located at the fringe of city centre and close to a few prominent education institutions as well as Orchard Road and eateries. At its doorstep is the culturally colorful Little India where there are 24 hour activities and food galore. On the other hand, one is close by the Orchard end where adult and teenage students in the renown schools build up a yuppies enclave.
More than one MRT Stations are within easy walking distances and so is Emily Park.
A typical size of a house at Niven is about 2497 sf and asking price of about $6900. It has 3 bed rooms and 3 bathrooms.
If you like generous open spaces and privacy with less window space in the living and dining areas, then you may like Niven houses. The units have been restored to modern co temporary on the interior but conservation rules dictate that the external farcade will have to be retained. And retained indeed it has.
One will notice it's large almost ceiling to floor windows which help bring in ample natural light and keep the house well ventilated.
Bathrooms and kitchen are modern and wardrobes are stand alone not fixtures fixed to the wall. Fittings and wardrobes colour and texture certainly blend well with the interiors of this property.

Niven Conservation House Review 2
A row of 2 storey conservation house is wholly owned and managed by Far East Organization. It is generally known as the Niven Road Conservation house.
The built up is generally around 2700+ Sqft and price ranges from $7,000 upwards.
Far East Organization has done a splendid job of restoring these colonial style houses to its former glory. Not ostentious but to its rightly deserved condition. Inside the houses on the second floor, one can feel the warmth of stepping on wooden plank floors and look out from floor to ceiling Windows in classical colonial designs.
Internally, Niven conservation houses have been renovated to modern fittings and appliances. With all having partially furnished conditions. And of course with quality and matching fan lights and curtains.
The location of Niven Conservation House is strategic. One one hand it is at the fringe of Orchard Road near to Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station and on the side, it is near to the colorful Little India.
The Niven Conservation House is also near to good arts and tertiary schools but the students may find the Niven house a tad expensive and too big. Those who find Niven house attractive may be expats who appreciates historical architectures and old world charm. Niven is not quite built in the colonial period but has indeed a character like none other.
Some tenants may also find Niven Conservation House attractive as a home office. Niven is indeed a versatile and property, which explains its high take up rate.

Niven Conservation House Review 3
This property under review is a row of pre-war two storey conservation shophouses located at Niven Road. There is no particular estate name so it is usually described as the Niven conservation house since they are located on Niven Road.
The Niven Conservation House is owned and managed by Far East Organization though whose the developer and what's the property used for in the past was quite unknown.
The Niven Conservation House compromised of ten units double storey houses and sport a earthy colour building farcade. Characteristic pillars grace the ground floor of the farcade, giving residents of the Niven residents and passer-by shades and shelter. This inadvertently make the upper floors of Niven Conservation House bigger than the lower floor because of the public access space below.
Compared to say, Townerville, the Niven Conservation Houses are younger and one characteristic of being younger us that the floor plate of the upper floor is built with cement rather than wooden planks. However, the semi-circular design at the top of the upper floor windows of Niven Conservation House is a mark of history in preservation.
